Dashboard overview

The dashboard is the no-code home for TaxLens. This page tours the home screen, the left navigation, the organization switcher, and the Test/Live switch that scopes everything you save.

The home screen

The Dashboard landing page is a read-only snapshot of the global tax data TaxLens maintains. Across the top sit hero metric cards:

  • Countries — how many countries are tracked.
  • Jurisdictions — the total count, broken down into cities and states/regions.
  • Tax Rates — the number of rates currently active in production.

Below the cards, a Global Coverage by Region donut splits jurisdictions across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Africa, and a Recently Effective Rates table lists the most recently activated rates by effective date — each row links straight into the jurisdictions browser for that jurisdiction.

The dashboard home — global coverage at a glance.

Global data vs your data

Two kinds of data meet on the dashboard. Tax reference data — jurisdictions, rates, and rules — is platform-global: it's identical for every organization, because the calculation engine is the same for everyone. Your data — properties, bookings, invoices, and reports — is scoped to your organization and private to your team.

The home screen's coverage metrics and the recently-effective-rates table reflect the global reference data; every other screen works with your organization's own records. See Team and roles for who on your team can do what.

The organization switcher

At the bottom of the sidebar, a card shows your active organization, your role in it, and how many organizations you belong to. You can belong to several — a property manager who operates for multiple brands, or an agency with one workspace per client.

  1. 1
    Open the switcher
Click the organization card. A menu lists every organization you're a member of, with your role in each.
  2. 2
    Switch workspace
Pick another organization. The whole app re-scopes to it — your properties, bookings, invoices, reports, and API keys all reflect the newly active org.
  3. 3
    Create a new organization
Choose New organization and name it. You become its admin and are switched into it immediately.
Heads up
The active organization is also what API-key creation and Settings act on. Make sure you're in the right workspace before issuing invoices or creating credentials.

The Test / Live switch and sandbox banner

A switch in the global header above every page toggles between Live and Test mode. A small dot and label show which you're in — green “Live data” or amber “Sandbox data”. In Test mode a banner spans the top of the page: “Test mode uses isolated sandbox bookings, invoices, and saved calculations.”

The switch is more than a filter. It scopes what you create and what you see:

  • Bookings and invoices saved in Test mode go onto an isolated sandbox series — including a separate TEST fiscal-number sequence — and are wipeable.
  • The Bookings, Invoices, and Tax Report screens filter to the active mode: Test shows only test records, Live shows only live ones.

Use Test mode to dry-run issuance for a new property or fiscal series before any real number is burned, then flip to Live for production invoices.

New to the modes? Test vs Live explains exactly what is and isn't isolated, and how the sandbox fiscal series works.
